I am very happy that you have this one, but a bit jealous. The USN and US Army purchased the GTB. The GTBS bomb truck was the standard bomb hauler for the USN. The US Army used 1.5 ton as standard, and then limited standard after 1943. Very few US Army vehicles made it over seas. I have seen most of the cargo's in US Army colors, but they were used by the Navy as well. All of the trucks built were finished with Olive Drab paint. If most of your MV exposure was through movies (like mine when I was younger) you would expect to see most USN vehicles in gray or yellow. This is not so. I have looked at perhaps 15 different USN vehicles from WWII, and almost all of them were originally Olive Drab. The ones which I could not confirm were just too beat to figure out what the original paint was.
As for your vehicle's history, you might be able to track down some of the history from when it was dropped off USN inventory. You need the serial number and registration number. Email me off forum, and I'll try to dig up the information about how to track USN vehicles.
