These are probably the same people who refer any of the following as a "jeep": International Scout, Ford Bronco, Toyota Land Cruiser, Chevrolet Blazer, etc. Some people just seam to think that Jeep is a generic term and use it to describe anything that is capable of traveling off road, is old, and remotely resembles something the military may have used at one time or another. I have had a few people refer to my Power Wagons as "jeeps". More often than not, they call them "army trucks". This tends to get me riled up a little as I have never owned a military vehicle. All of my trucks have been true Power-Wagons. (Notice the Power-Wagon with a hyphen as found in the original sales literature). It must be because they are green. I usually handle the situation by diving into a long-winded detailed lecture on the history of the Power Wagon. They either learn something and leave with the beginnings of a genuine interest, or they just get bored and leave.

The potentally interesting standoffs involve meeting the vets who swear they drove an "army truck" just like my '51 B3PW in WWII. Out of respect for my elders, and their service to my country, I politely listen to their stories and leave it at that.

Knowledge can be a dangerous thing.

Clint
