in the past only because of winter an salt an rust building up i have heated plugs or around them to loosen them on my oshkosh it was a big rearend with no seals around. heating oil in a confind area can be dangerous if there is no realief valve even then it can shoot out oil that can get hot it wouldnt take long to heat that area . mabey some wax like some gentelman mentioned could work . be carefull hot oil hurts as you can probley amagin.
