They do make 8 sided sockets, I've got a set of them. Failing that try a 12 pointed socket or box wrench. If you put it back together with teflon tape it won't seize in there, but don't over tighten it! Teflon is such a hi-pressure lube that you can split castings (or rocks!) with the tapered plug!
