The hose to the turbo opens the wastegate, so a plugged or failed wastegate hose would not hurt performance. It would keep the wastegate from opening after building adequate boost. It would continue to build boost.

If the boost line to the pump is cracked, that would prevent the pump from delivering full fuel. I just diagnosed that problem on the Wagoneer recently. On that truck, it is probably a plastic line going from the head to the back of the injection pump.

Exhaust restriction can make a different, too. When I replaced the OEM muffler on my crewcab, I could not believe how much that 3" pipe had been holding it back. It made me wonder if the old factory muffler had blockage in it.
