I think you'll find having someone "make" a new set of differential gears is not going to be quite so simple.

Since they were never originally designed for that gear ratio they would have to be designed for it. Since the relative location of each of two gears is essentially fixed there are limits to how wide a range of gear ratios you can put in one differential without redesign of other parts. I think even the Dana axles use different carriers for specific ranges of gears.

Not sure you could go from a 4.88:1 to a 3.55:1 without redesign of the ring gear carrier too.

Same with the brakes, there are other ways of mounting them, but probably not without a custom rotor, which would be less convenient then welding the fixed flange once and using an off-the-shelf rotor.
