I had similar problems with finding a clutch master and slave to work on my WC53 with a V8 conversion with hanging peddles. I the first issue was my clutch was not fully disengaging fully. This is usually caused by insufficient fluid flow to the slave cylinder. You need to have a master with a slightly larger bore diameter. Don't go too big or you will over drive the slave and blow it seals. I ended up with a 1.25" bore in both master and slave.

I will never use Wilwood master or slave cylinders again. I went through a set every 1,000 miles. After 3 sets I dumped them. The slave cylinders just plain leaked past the seals. Same with the master. There was no cylinder wear. I checked the alignment of both many times and everything was good. The issue seemed to be the smaller bore diameter of the Wilwood units which could not handle the pressure to handle the HD V8 clutch. I put in an original style steel GM slave that bolted to the bell housing. For a master I ended up using a brake master cylinder from a 56 Chevy car. It has worked perfectly for years without any leaks. I did try the GM slave in the beginning but I could not find a master with a large enough bore so I went with the Wilwood system which was a big mistake.
