My truck has the centered gauges. I have a single wire sender. It has a ring that rotates and locks in the sender. The thermostatic gauge from what you say is a two wire sender. So I have the newer sender and gauge.

I was commenting on this comment in your post:

"I have never owned a truck newer than 1951 that still had the original fuel tank, so I do not know when the change took place from bolt-on sending unit to a twist-lock sending unit. I would guess it took place in 1951 at serial number 83937527 as this is the only place indicated by the books where a change in the sending unit and the fuel tank took place at the same time."

Obviously my truck has the newer twist lock on the sender and my serial number is lower than the 83937527 that you suggested above. I believe that the tank is original to the truck. Obviously, the gauge cluster, sender type and tank had changed before my truck was built. My body tag number is 5182 1305 which makes it the new style which matches the gauge cluster difference compared to your truck.

It looks as if they switched the sender style and gas gauge type when they changed the cab style in 1951 after 83922966. This seems consistent with my body tag being number 1305 of the new series and the frame number of my truck and the frame number where the change took place.
