Any time you remove or install the return spring you have to be carefull not to allow the front shoe to push to far into the wheel cylinder. Because the front cup is smaller than the back cup it can slip into the larger bore and not come back. Because the spring is very difficult to stretch you have the tendency to crank the upper cams as far in as possible so you don't have to stretch the spring so far. The cup can also come close to slipping into the larger rear bore but not completely. That is a very sharp edge and can score the lips on the cup also causing small leaks. The other thing that helps is to buy wheels cylinders that have the tin expander plates behind the cups. They help to keep the cups tight to the cylinder wall.
