Are the head bolt holes in the block blind holes or do they go thru into the water jacket?
from your pic of the gasket it looks like the coolant came up around the threads and started eating the gasket??
If the head bolt hole in the block go thru into the water jacket the threads have to be sealed.
We used Permatex #2 but the newer Permatex Teflon sealer works better.
