If you're not in a hurry keep an eye on your local Craig's List for a decent used unit. There are two sorts, the guys who think they don't depreciate, and the ones that understand they do. They'll go fast if the price is decent, and the big advantage of Miller or similar is that you can still get parts, but they could easily eat into any savings you got on buying the device so make sure it works before you buy. I saved $300 on a Miller plasma that way, and while not their newest or fanciest, you can still buy that model and all it's parts.

If you want to buy new then keep Hobart in mind too. They are owned by Miller now and are basically their "economy" brand. Mostly they are just missing some of the toys, but the price difference is noticeable. I've had no issues with mine now after 6 or 7 years and almost 2 big spools of wire.

I would also recommend 220 if you have the capability of feeding it. Only problem is it's not as portable as the 220 but the 110s quickly run out of steam for heavier repairs.

Good luck, let us know what you get.
