If you could do without it I would.
Use a GM three wire Alt. change to Neg. Ground and don't look back.
They Were a Good Alt. for there time,
but trouble prone.
Should have an External large Voltage Regulator,
and a External Rectifier somewhere.
Parts are hard to find.
