What about those massive mobile cranes? For example a Grove, they can weigh way over 60 tons, they run the highways and streets all the time.
Bottom line is a system needs to be in good working order.

Speaking of hydraulics, I worry more about a single cylinder master cylinder failing or an old rusty brake line failing or coming loose on old vehicles.

Bottom line is take care of your old iron and equipment.
