(1) get as many ads and sale prices of comparable trucks as you can.
(2) get an appraisal, take the ads , with you and provide them to the appraiser IF it will be of help to him. Not all appraisers are equal.
(3) a tad dirty is a great idea
(4) You might get more than one appraisal.
(5) Courts are odd things. Nothing is in stone. There are letter of the law judges, There are Intent of the law judges, There are Fair Judges and biased ones. The better prepared you are the better off you will be.
(6) You should check into the credentials of your appraiser, also find out what insurance companies recognize which credentials, or individuals.
(7) Prepare, prepare,prepare.
A buddy of mine just went through this. The judge found in his favour and he now pays only 250. his wife was asking for 1250 a month. He was prepared out the ring yang. The judge complimented him on his preparation and that it helped him(the judge) come to a decision. The judge was female and tends to side with the woman.
