Besides, a dimple is actually contracting it. Cute, but foolish. I like flat over most of the middle.
After losing one when hitting freeway speeds, I put a pressure gauges in my block. At 3200 rpm, the water pump actually does pressurize the block to 10 psi over the radiator cap spec. That is good to prevent hot spots in the block, not good for loose Welch plugs.
Is there one on the back of the block too? One for the cam and another for water? But if it blows out the bell housing will prevent flood, but it will leak?
