Bad day yesterday

Story time:
Engine when it came to me was froze solid had not run in maybe 20 years.

When I tore it down crank block bearings etc were all good. Frozen valves seemed to be the culprit

It went to the machine shop they did a full mag inspection no cracks. Got in to valve seat repair and two exhaust seats had corrosion on the top surface .....looked like water intrusion through uncovered carb....corrosion was to the point that the machine shop was not comfortable with putting seats in ( reduced material). Went out to get the area weld built up. That seemed to go okay they brought the whole block up to temp slow then welded then covered to cool slow.

Back at the machine shop we re magged it prior to final machining ........ Found a crack in water jacket at cly 3 inside the valve cover cavity ..... Runs the entire width.

I have some more research to do on if it's worth repairing.

My gut tells me at some point you have to cut your losses.

Any one close to ct have a 251 buildable block collecting dust?
