I have a similar problem. My wife has finally retired from a very people oriented job and now she is constantly under foot. I love this woman dearly but she's driving me batty. She is slowly getting involved in other things and requires less of my time for inane chatter.
I told her I may have to get her some cows to tend or something like that and now ahe's out volunteering and getting involved with other idle women.
I suppose they'll be out robbing liquor stores and driving T-Birds into the Grand Canyon soon.
Until then I have to remain tolerant and understanding and make time for her.
