Scott: It looks like your transmission cover is in place? Regardless it does not need to be to adjust the levers. It will help to have a running engine with the transmission though, because you can get the transfer case "in neutral" where it is not in high or low range. If you can clearly feel it go into low or high range then you are golden, but being able to move the truck to insure you have it right is nice. The same thing on the 4WD lever. You can look at the front drive shaft and see if you have that right.
