Steering Box Adjustment?

Now that the box is back together I have to adjust it again. No play in the shaft so that is set right with the 4 shims. (Adjusting the gear is a different story my manual is not that good on this stuff. I think you put it mid cycle then adjust the play out till it just touches and it should be right. Is this correct?
