I bought an armature lathe for $25.00 at a garage sale. The people didn't even know what it was. I've since sold it because I didn't have that much use for it.
I've seen "growlers" on Ebay for a reasonable price.
Both the growler and the lathe are easy to use, if you don't already know how. You probably do. I learned to use them in my high school shop class.
