Hey Willy,
It happened to some years ago except is was from a ball joint on a heep Cherokee. Driving to work 3 days later the sun was killing my eye, it was tearing like crazy.
The eye doctor stuck my head in a vise, top if my head to my chin. and a "C" clamp from temple to temple. She said now, don't move whiles I stick this dremmel in your eye to grind out the rust!
I said whadda mean Rust!
It's about 25 yrs I still see a white spot from time to time
