I'm in the process of doing that same transplant. The drive train(360/NV3500/Dana300)I'm installing weighs in at 740lbs. I did a simular transplant in a 1998 Jeep Wrangler - it fit and worked fine.
I considered a 4BT/NV4500/NP205 but that was in the 1100lb. range.Too heavy for the 1/2 ton WC.
