I was assuming that the spline count was directly related to the angle between each of the spline peaks. My thinking was a 32 spline shaft would have peaks separated 11.25 degrees, and flats were just the elimination of a peak. I believe this is wrong.

From the Cardone site, there is an example where they indicate a 32 spline shaft is 4 flats with 8 peaks in between. Assuming the flats are the same width as a spline, there are 36 divisions so the angle between peaks is 10 degrees for a 32 spline.

My pitman is 36 with no flats, so peaks are at 10deg. So this should fit correctly on a 32 spline with 4 flats shaft (assuming diameter is correct, etc). It would also fit a 35 spline w/ 1 flat, and on and on. So spline count seems pretty ambiguous.

So I am hopeful that my current pitman will fit on the 32 splined 27-7515 (also, I believe the mid 70s Dodge 4x4 box Saginaw is the same as a Cardone 27-7500, which is also listed as 32 splines output).
