I just went through this BS after a 30 year marriage because the other half LOST HER MIND, Stole money from our kids and tried to from US and did a lot more that was just crazy. Believe me when I tell you that even if you have many justifications and proof to show why the asset split or costs related to it all should be swayed more in you direction in a settlement, if you are the primary money maker, at least in FLA, it is barely looked at. The Judge will just want to split everything 50-50 and award some alimony to the one with less income. I made out ok as I COULD IN AN UNFAIR SYSTEM AGAINST THE BREAD WINNER, because she lost her mind, but IF THEY WOULD HAVE CONSIDERED ALL THE FACTS, she deserved to get SH*T. Fight for what's right, don't give her the farm, but don't expect things like an affair by her or even what she took from your account to make that much differnce. My lawyer even said to me before and during mediation that all the additional costs i figured in that she caused would not get me a better deal and he was right. the judges want the easy way out and move on to the next. Luckily I had the cash in retirement to pay her off including for half the house, and for the value of other assets. Once her lawyer found out from us all the crap she pulled, because I basically took care of her for 30 years, her lawyer decided, because the ex became nuts over time, that they better decide for an equitable asset split plus take a one time lump sum alimony and go away. I still got shafted, but no where near as bad as I could have. Get up with a local car club and find out who in your area can do a written appraisal on your PW. You should be able to get one from a local appraiser for 200 to 400. Mine costs 300 for two WC's. He took care of me on the values...Drop me an email if you have any questions, and good luck to you.
