You will need to research this a little further and hopefully someone more knowledgeable than I can help.
But seems to me if Vaughn say's Cameron,
housing is what you need then I see no difference in what you have other than cast.
The important point is your water pump, head, block and by-pass all have to be correct with one another to work properly.
Then there's the "hump" "no hump" head which was very early. There were several changes made through the years.
The cast outlet with the cast by-pass was 46 to 56 I think. Then the cast outlet with no bypass was 57 to 61? The stamped outlet was used on the 251 engines.
So if your pump/block/head are all correct for the none external by-pass, what difference does the stamped/cast outlet make other than appearance/correctness?

Also on a side note,
You said engine ran good other than overheating and oil leaks?
Take a close look at the pipe nipple between the PCV and manifold.
They will plug up with carbon and sludge
and allow the crankcase to build pressure and blow oil out the seals/gaskets.
Just went through this myself.
