My dad went through this twice, and it is a lawer, judge game. They all know each other and just want to make a buck off your situation. Stalling might not be the right word, but trying to counter the values the opposing side states is key. Sad that it all comes down to money, but that is the way.
Keep a level head when around the lawyers and the judge as any angry outbursts usually don't help. Also, be careful what you say, no threats, you don't know who else is listening, or recording.
