I think the axle breakage is rare especially if you go to centered rear axle. someone told me a while back that spicer 60 side gears will fit in the stock PW carrier. if that is true then one could change out side gears in carrier to the 1.375 fine spline, have custom axles made forged with a hat or with drive flanges and then you have larger and stronger shafts. I am going to look into it more after the disk brake conversions are done
