It's basically a straightforward swap, as long as you have the complete 10-spline internals from a '62-68 NP435. The 23-spline will NOT work without a lot of machining/mismatched parts with the hydraulic bellhousing. There was a special hydraulic bellhousing made from '90-92 that will work with the 23-spline guts, but you will lose the mounting pads that the older Poly bellhousing has. In ANY case, you will need to drill the tailshaft housing mounting bolts, as the newer "married" NP435 extension housing pattern is different. It is best left to a professional machine shop, but I did my own... with the proper machinery.
