It's been tried, I first went to Cuba in 93, found a nice knuckle head, it was NOT cheap; but complete and running. Had to more or less smuggle it out by boat from Santiago to Cayman. The govment has a lockdown on everything, you can't export anything without greasing palms heavy.
There are some truly nice rides, a lot of Jeeps, some PW's I have seen, but too big to get in your pocket and walk out with. It is cheaper to buy domestically right now, for sure at least you will actually be able to possess what you buy. Open up trade, who knows, but prices will be high. Cubans, on the whole, really believe in communism and that the US of A is the root of their despair.
