As I understand it, the recall involves cutting back the pedal. If you are not satisfied with that, Toyota will replace the pedal. But, I'd hate to see your Toyota run away with you :) or someone in your family.
Also, I remember reading that some car computers are now designed so that if the gas pedal and brake are pressed at the same time, the engine de-powers. I don't know if this feature was offered as a retro-fit, but it might be worth asking a Toyota dealer. You might not be as sharp as your are now in 15 years when you get ready to trade in your Toyota.
