Got home an hour or so ago after driving about 1/3 of Sonoma County. 0545 notice local schools closed. Local schools flooded due to clogged drains. Some classrooms wet. On the roads the usual suspects were flooded. Mostly surprised the water wasn't higher. Some places higher than expected. Surprised by some downed lines. Small creeks were dropping all day. Big streams and the river kept rising all day. The river will be the story tomorrow. By late afternoon the rain lessened and bored folks in big trucks started blasting through the closed roads. Got to watch one unfortunate soul get rescued by boat from the roof of their truck after washed off the road.
Closing schools sounded stupid at first, but in hindsight it was best to keep parents off the roads. Many thoroughfares were impacted by water and debris.
If feel sorry for the folks with water at their doorsteps who will be flooded by the waves from the big trucks out just to make a splash. Same old story 83, 86, 94, 97, 05/06 and now.
The one PW I drove past was safe from the standing water surrounding its property.
