Yes, and best is a relative term. The Fatmat will stop the doors from sounding "hollow", and it does help.

Just like anything though you don't want a good prep. Make sure it's clean and I'd get some sort of protection over any surface rust first.

Warming it up doesn't hurt, but you'll also want a small roller as pressing it down is the most important part. You don't want the ability for any moisture to get behind it.

Concentrate on the center of the panel, and I wouldn't worry about 100 percent coverage. I also did small strips on top and bottom inside of the door. Again, you're just trying to keep the metal from ringing like a drum with that stuff mainly.

In the cab if you read the sound deadener showdown site you want to concentrate your work below the window line as above it the windows are your weak link. Do the roof with some of the Fatmat just to keep it from ringing, but just enough for that.

I also did some small strips on the back side of the dash, since it's also metal and can tend to amplify sounds.
