The cab (from a D500) didn't have a VIN tag when I bought it. I assumed the frame number was a serial number assigned by the state when the truck was retitled sometime in the past. Interesting that it matches a SN from a D100, I wonder if the state calculated weight taxes based on model number, rather than actual weight. The title shows a vehicle weight (CWT) of 6,400 lbs, more than I would expect a D100 to weigh. Today they use the actual vehicle weight to calculate taxes. Knowing what I do of the guy who built the truck, I would not be surprised if he tried to jigger the facts to save a few dollars.
