An 1940s had a 25 inch engine a 236 cubic inch then @1950 it became a 251 and later it was even bigger at 265. Bore size stayed the same they just stroked it longer with 3 different crankshafts. In general 23 inch flatheads were fitted to all ww2 US WC except for late war Canadian Dodge APT which had a 25" 236, I have one I'm restoring built in June 1945. In the 50s US M 37 stayed with 23" 230 cubic inch engines Canadian M37 went to a 25" 251 right up to 1958. I believe in the last years up to 1968 when domestic sales ended they used 251 that is the 25 inch block.
