That's pretty much the reason many people modify the trucks they find now. Anything that has been sitting out unloved for decades is probably not worth bringing back to original.
The collector car hobby now values nice unrestored collector vehicles at more than a nicely restored one. Moneywise, if you have a nice survivor vehicle you are almost always better off leaving it unrestored.
Ten years down the road, your restored vehicle will be just an "older restoration". A survivor vehicle will have gained value.
