I've seen knob and tube pig tailed to romex, extension-cord wire run behind walls for outlets, pennies, even an electrical tape-wrapped coat hanger spliced into a run 'cause he just didn't have enough wire'. And then there was the five bedroom two story that had a NEW 200 amp box stuffed with three breakers. Three. One was a double pole for the electric water heater, stove and dryer. That guy had removed the overhead porch light fixture (and left the wires exposed), because whenever they flipped the light on, the breaker tripped...
