After 49 years and 4 months ( the last 27.5 ) as an inspector in the electrical trade here in Ontario Canada about the only thing that surprises me is why there are not more electrical fires and people being electrocuted than there are.
About two years ago in the city of Toronto a woman was walking her dog down the street on a wet day, then all of a sudden the dog dropped over dead. After further investigations, they found that the dog had been electrocuted, and his last step was on a manhole cover of an electrical concrete junction box. A long story but a faulty joint was touching the bottom of the manhole lid. After checking all the covers on that type of electrical boxes throughout the whole Greater Toronto Area they did find several more live lids.
I can only assume that she was wearing good boots, or using a rope or fabric leash, rather than a metal chain, or she may have been in danger herself.
I am sure that most of you have probably heard of using a copper penny behind a fuse.
Well I have heard that if you are going to do that, you should use an American penny. Because on the American penny it says "In God We Trust"
Oh well I am ready to let the younger guys take over. I have got 11 more working days to go, a few days for holidays, and then when the balloons come down I am officially RETIRED.
JJB.
