The problem with the screw type snow machines is they only work on the flats. They can't negotiate any kind of side hill at all. The solid sides on the pontoons of a tucker do a lot to keep it from sliding downhill in soft snow. The small "snow tracks" that you can add to a van or pickup have the same problem on hills. I've also read that the screw machines have trouble with very deep or sticky snow. You have to appreciate the inventiveness of the guy that tried it, though.
