You know, I just don't think there is any "cheap" involved in a quality paint job. Materials and tools alone will set you back a chunk even if you do all the body work and prep.

Having a professional put a paint job over an amateur-level prep job is just a waste of time and money. If you've never done body work and paint prep, you have a long row to hoe and a lot to learn. If you're up to it, fine. Many people here have done nice paint jobs, but by the time they finished, they were capable of doing professional-quality work. The time, money and effort it takes to learn may not be worth it for just one paint job, especially on a FFPW which may never be worth that much.
