In my senior year of high school back in 61...1961 not 1861 I took Typing Class.
I always got great marks in typing and aced the final.......but there was a catch.
The Typing class room was filled with old IBM electric typewriters. All had blank keys except for one in the back corner of the room. I grabbed that one and it was my assigned typewriter for the class semester. I did real well in all classes and tests.
Then came the final test at semesters end. I showed up on time and saw that another guy was sitting at the typewriter with marked keys....my typewriter. I choked. I went up to the teacher, Mr Cullen. He was a grump, very loud voice, but he and I always got along well. I told him to just fail me on the test, I could not take it, and explained the truth, about the marked key typewriter I used all year.
He smiled and in his very loud voice almost hollered to the guy at my typewriter,
"Get out of that seat, that's Paul's seat". He gave me a wink and I passed the final with colors. The truth always pays.
