If your concerned about being stock that is a big change over Strong Arm Steering. I would make the shim first easy to do see how it fits and looks. Check the steering arm for movement etc then decide. You can always take it out. Pull all but one bolt on the frame and put the column in place on the dash and see what you need to shim it on the frame. It might not be that much. A little bit on the frame is a lot at the end of the column.
