cab/bed alignment

Cameron's problem with his steering raised some questions for me.
When I was putting my truck back together after paint, (the cab was never removed from the frame), I made blocks out of white oak to the specs provided by Clint Dixon for the WDX cab. We had to add a couple of flat washers here and there to get the correct alignment on the hood/radiator fit and the doors fit surprisingly well.
I built a flat bed and when I put it in place I noticed the frame of the bed is about 2" out of parallel with the frame of the truck. I lined up the bed with the running boards and the cab.
Is the factory bed perfectly parallel to the frame or is it shimmed?
Everything fits so well and looks correct, so I assumed it's the way it's supposed to be, but now I am wondering.
