If you're looking for a STRONG but road-able highway tire check out 9.00 or 11.00R16 Michelin XLs from Dollar Tire in Edmonton. Used CDF (Canadian Defence Forces) takeoffs in VERY good shape (80-90% tread) for US$130 for 9.00s, US$165 for 11.00s. the 9.00s are 36" and the 11.00s 38.7". check the sidewalls - very thick rubber, 1 steel ply. In 31 years and about 500,000 miles of driving on this type of tires, in 7.00R15, 7.50R16, 10R16.5, 8.25, 9.00, 11.00R16 and 325/85R16 I have NEVER had a sidewall failure, in rocks, logging slash etc.
And they are indescribably better on the road than NDs, and actually better offroad as well due to radial tread, pliable sidewalls and tremendous tread pattern.
