You've kind of left a blank slate, since you did not rule out engine swaps, etc.

The simplest method might be to use an NP420 transmission from an M37. Yeah, you'll have t double clutch 1st & 2nd, but 3rd & 4th are synchro, and from what I can tell looking at my pile of M37 & 41 WC parts it appears it will interchange (I'm sure an RKI can confirm that or tell me I'm all wet). Then run 9.00x16 tires and rims from an M37 or WDX style PW.

Going a bit further, I've seen some really nice 41's with a 318 and a 727/NP203 combo, running 9.00x16's and a disk brake conversion on the front or both axles. This is probably the easiest and most practical swap, though there are a few challenges squeezing the motor into the engine compartment.

The 41 WC used 4.89 gears, so it has a leg up in that dept on its 5.83 geared 3/4 ton brothers. The annoying part of 41 axles is that to service the brakes you have to take the hubs off and expose the bearings, while the 3/4 tonners including the M37 you can merely pull the brake drum off. Helitool makes a disc brake conversion kit for the 1/2 tonner that eliminates this problem.

It all depends on how involved you want to get and how much effort.

How about reviewing what you really want, how much effort you want to put into it, and get back to us and we can go from there?
