Is it a MU-3 or a plain M3 winch you have? "U" means underwind and indicates the winch is assembled to pull cable in from the bottom of the drum. A plain M3 might be an overwind winch, so you may want to swap ends of the worm gear inside the winch gear housing to change the operation of the winch to an underwind (if someone has not already done this).
The gear case of the MU-3 & M3 winch is designed to mount flat, not at an angle (with the rear end lower than the front) as is the MU-2 gear case. So, you may not be able to use the MU-2 cable guides underneath the M3 winch if mounted to the front of a flat fender PW. You also might have a tight fit with the PTO drive shaft because the stub input shaft on the M3 will be horizontal instead of angled down at the rear, as on a MU-2. The winch drive shaft may be too high and bang against the PW frame front cross member if you do not use cable guides under the front of the M3 (they will fit poorly, if at all) to tilt down the winch imput shaft. even then, they PTO drive shaft may/may not fit. I don't know either way, so others will have to advise you on that. But it is an potential problem.
The "10" is the inside width of the winch drum. "R" means it has a right hand gear set inside the winch gear housing. The MU-3 winch on the front of my W300 has a "L" (Left) hand gear set and works fine. You may have to (want to) swap ends of you worm gear inside the winch case to get your winch to pull in with greater torque than when it unwinds.
My 2 cents opinion is you will be better off selling the M3 or swapping it for the correct MU-2. Good luck! Fred
