I have been fortunate enough so far not to have mechanical faliors in my trucks. Have had two incidents where my beater work car ( no longer with me) failed. First time, called my dear wife who brought the suburban and flat bed trailer to my rescue. second time I contacted local directory and got # for a tow service.

I have been lost in route more times than I care to remember, always good to have a cell phone on hand to call the guy at the other end for directions. Most interesting of these trips was possibly trying to find small mechanical shop NY side of Ridgefield NJ. Must have been something for the locals to see this ohio "hay seed" piloting an '85 suburban and flat bed through the city. Even more interesting on way out with a '46 1-1/2 ton in tow...

As for good mechanics,,,,well that's a gamble any time you do not have experience with the particular mechanic.
