Mike,

I got the 4:10, limited slip, and the automatic in my 2001 because when I do pull a trailer, it is about 11,000 lbs and it puts the engine in the middle of its power curve at highway speeds. The rest of the time, the truck is only lightly loaded and I have to contend with heavy traffic. The 2001 auto has a lower stall speed torque converter and many of the problems in previous year auto's are supposedly solved in them. Most of my driving is lightly loaded between 45 and 80 mph. At 80 mph, I'm turning about 2600 rpm. If I were going to do it again, I'd go with the 3.55's as the truck has a surplus of power and the fuel economy with 4:10's seems to be the same on the highway or around town, with the best at around 55-60 mph. I'm still breaking it in (less than 10k on it so far) and I'm only up to around 14.5mpg around town or on the highway.
