I am planning to buy a Dodge3500 in the next month or two which will be equipped with the Cummins Diesel and a six speed manual trans. I can't decide which axle ratio would benefit me more as the truck will only occasionally be used to pull a 10,000lb trailer.80 to 85% of the time the truck will be used empty with a lot of highway driving. I'm afraid that the 4.10 may cause higher engine revving which may cause fuel consumption and MPG to suffer. What is anyones experience with the ratios in the Cummins powered Dodges? P.S. When the truck is being used to tow with it will either be hauling horses or my M601 Power Wagon.
