The 60-68 251 has a different water pump than the earlier blocks (don't know about 54-58), which uses a different gasket.

Also, the 251 used in the Power Wagon has a different front engine mount plate (goes between the block and the timing chain cover, and rests on top of the front motor mount) and I think it uses a different gasket than the 251 used in cars and the 251 Industrial Engine. Not sure if any other years or vehicles used the same PW type engine mount.

If you put a 251 in your truck, make sure that this mounting plate is correct for the Power Wagon. Someone swapped a 251 into my truck, and the engine sat up 1" too high in the front, so the fan kept hitting the shroud. Took a couple years for me to figure out the cause of the problem, and was a pain to remedy (complete front end tear-down).

I've heard that some of the earlier 251s had a different crank shaft pulley, so they might use a different oil seal, thus a different kit number. But this is only my guess.

Please post if you find out what the differences in the kits are.
