You want to check two places:
1-Transmission floor cover it should have plenty of clearance above transmission (1/4 to 3/8) at least;
2-The side line down the hood and cowl should be parrallel. If the cab is to high, it will be narrower at the bottom of the hood. On the 56 PW two inch high front rubber insulators and 1&3/4 rears

This is the sequence for adjusting everything and assuming all parts are inplace, but loose;
1. Adjust and bolt down the cab once insulator height is correct;
2. Adjust rods to radiator cowl
3. Tighten the steering column at the cowl;
4. Tighten the steering box at frame.
Someone else may have some thoughts on this also.
